This page is maintained by How to Make a Deck to explain what data the site does and doesn't collect. It's a plain-language summary, not a legal contract.
The short version
- No account, no signup, no email wall to read anything on the site.
- Your deck is never uploaded. The audit runs entirely in your browser.
- Module progress and completion state live in your browser's local storage. Clearing site data resets it.
- Anonymous, aggregated analytics events (page views, teardown clicks) may be collected to prioritise content. No personal identifiers.
Email captured on the notify form
The "Notify me" form on track pages collects one thing: the email address you type in. We use it only to email you when a new track or teardown ships. We do not sell it, share it, or send other campaigns to it. Alongside the address we retain the source (which page you submitted from), a timestamp, and a one-way hash of your IP for abuse prevention. We do not store the raw IP.
Retention: kept until you ask us to delete it. To request deletion, email jackgierlich@gmail.com from the address you subscribed with and we will remove it within 30 days.
What we don't do
- We don't sell data. There is no data to sell.
- We don't fingerprint visitors, track across sites, or set advertising cookies.
- We don't retain deck contents on our servers. The audit UI reads your inputs in-memory and encodes state in the URL you can share.
Third-party fonts and hosting
The site loads web fonts from Google Fonts, which may see your IP address when the page loads. Hosting is provided by Lovable (Cloudflare edge). Standard server logs may retain IP addresses for a short period for abuse prevention.
